Danny & Debbie Trejo

They say dogs bring people together.  Such was the case with us meeting Danny and Debbie Trejo.  It began in the Spring of 2007.  Debbie (Danny's wife) had chased down some hoodlums who were physically and mentally abusing a little brindle Pit Bull.  She managed to get animal control to step in and from there Debbie called us.  This little Pit Bull had severe emotional abuse and needed major rehabilitation.

But the Trejos would prove to be more than just "dog people"...they were also "people people".  Because of Danny's background of "doing time" and then going on to become a very successful actor, his work with inmates and AA proved to be a invaluable to us too.

With each trip out to VRC, Debbie's work with our dogs was enough to melt your heart.  Her passion for our four legged friends is undeniable.

Danny would spend time with the guys in our parolee program (The Underdawgz, Inc.)  Even a "tough guy" like Danny Trejo managed to show these guys how important a dog can be in one's life and the gift of unconditional love is literally a life saver.

And it should be no surprise, afterall, Danny and Debbie are Pit Bull owners themselves.

Danny and Debbie Trejo have become a part of our family.  VRC and Debbie's non-profit group: www.k9compassion.org work together to save dogs in desperate situations.  And to think it all started with a little fawn brindle Pit Bull now named.......Trejo.  Truly Man's Best Friend.

 Visits are by APPOINTMENT ONLY!!
Due to the increasing number of people showing up that have become obsessed fans, stalkers or that think we are a public zoo, we now have to take control of the situation. We are a sanctuary for these animals and the last thing they want or need is someone coming by just to "check them out". We DO NOT give tours or allow the public to walk around like the animal shelter. Visitations are for those adopting, boarding or training only. This is not only for liability reasons, but for the sake of the privacy of these animals that have already had a tough life.
Please respect that.
If you are interested in visiting, you MUST call and make an appointment.
For those of you, who think you're "special" and are planning on just "dropping by", we have a surprise waiting for you at the front gate.....
SURPRISE!
