This little nugget was dumped outside our building (of course in the middle of the night) at our New Orleans location. Instead of running off, she must’ve heard our dogs barking and stuck around for one of us to come into work and save her. Once we arrived we saw immediately that she was in “caval” which is the very deadly advanced stage of heartworm. You pretty much have “minutes” to get a dog to a vet in an attempt to save them through a very delicate surgery.
Thanks to the great people at our vet’s office, “Amor” made it and has become the most wiggly little creature you could ask for. We are still getting to know her, but so far she is perfect. She loves to stare at the back of your head while you sit at your desk and “try” to do work, all the while, you can hear her little tail “thump, thump, thump” If ignored, she will entertain herself with toys and loves to be dressed up…hoodies preferred.
Amor needs a quiet home. She is fine with older kids (pre-teens and up). The little ones make her so nervous that she will hide from them.
Amor, Spanish for “to love”….and she’s got lots to give.
