Coal was brought into us by a good samaritan who found him on the streets of New Orleans, with his face half chewed off. Going by his severe injuries and old scars throughout his body, it was obvious that he was used as a "bait dog". Yet despite his wounds, he was so gentle and very affectionate. After receiving emergency surgery, it was then that we found out that he was also heartworm positive and eventually suffered a minor heart attack to where we almost lost him. But he remained determined to live and has become the ultimate gentleman in the house. He has learned to play with toys and spends his afternoons rolling on his back in the yard with a toy in his mouth and as resident of "Larry's House" he has even gained a friend or two. This guy is a diamond in the rough but he is as close to perfect as you can get.
