Fortnight: Left Behind but Ready for a New Beginning
In the middle of one of the biggest transitions for our rescue, as we were packing our New Orleans city location, a little pittie named Fortnight was tied to our fence—right in front of the sign that clearly read, “We are closed for intake. Please do not leave your pets.”
When staff reviewed the security footage, what they saw was beyond heartbreaking. Fortnight’s owners didn’t just abandon him—they laughed as they did it. They made no attempt to speak to anyone, offer an explanation, or ensure his safety. Instead, they tied him up, waited down the street in their car, and the moment employees spotted him, they sped off, leaving behind nothing but anger, frustration, and a dog who deserved so much better.
But despite his rough start, Fortnight has refused to let the past define him. He is young, eager to learn, and incredibly intelligent—picking up on anything you want to teach him with ease. His heart is as big as his potential, and he absolutely loves everyone he meets.
Fortnight is looking for an active home, one that will take him on adventures, build memories, and most importantly, never give up on him. He needs consistency, love, and a forever family that will cherish him the way his first one never did.
