This sweet girl was first spotted by a good Samaritan at a gas station parking lot in Mississippi. When she called us, we explained that we were no longer able to travel out of state to rescue dogs. But then…she sent us the photo and that’s when things went into high gear.
This little dog’s back leg was turned around backwards and according to locals, she had been wandering around like that for some time. More than likely hit by a car, she had been surviving after the locals began feeding her but no one could get near her. So after getting some advice from Lizzy a VRC employee, the good Samaritan borrowed a dog trap and after a short time, the lost little angel was caught.
But her troubles were not over. After coming to us and receiving medical attention (she had to have her leg amputated) she was still terrified of everyone and everything. We tried different locations within VRC and nothing worked. We were losing all hope. But then a miracle happened.
One of our longtime employees Desiree, offered to foster Kelsey. Not only did she take her in, but she opened her home up to many other senior and unadoptables from VRC. Needless to say it was a win-win for a group of our dogs. Although Kelsey has come out of her shell at Dez’s house, she is still terrified of everyone else and for this reason she will remain with Dez and the rest of the VRC “oldies but goodies”
