Mikayela is a German Shepherd mix with a heart full of courage and a story of transformation. Once living in a heartbreaking situation in New Orleans, Mikayela endured the harsh conditions of a backyard breeder. Her days were filled with neglect and uncertainty, but her spirit remained unbroken.
Her journey to a better life began when her owner had no more use for her. She and her sister showed up to VRC, crammed in the same crate together and in the back of a pickup truck. Despite the rough ride, Mikayela’s bright eyes and wagging tail hinted at the hope she carried within her.
Now safe and cared for, Mikayela is flourishing. Her playful nature, intelligence, and loyalty shine through, captivating everyone she meets. Although she can be a little shy at first, she warms up quickly. She’s a testament to the power of love and second chances, ready to find her forever home where she can share her boundless affection and joy.
She is also great in the house, good with other dogs and cats and kids. Due to her being a little shy at first, slightly older kids might be best.
