Hurricane Isaac came creeping in over night on August 28th, 2012, not the most destructive storm in history, but determined to leave his mark. By dawn, Tia woke to an unsettling feeling of water when her feet touched the floor. The neighborhood was flooding under the relentless rain. After making sure her dogs, kids, and employees were safe, she braced herself for the next task, helping the community through the storm’s aftermath.
Wading through flooded Maurepas, Tia of course found herself drawn to the cemetery. Most there did not need saving, but among the gravestones a shadow moved. Not sure if it was a ghost, her mind playing tricks on her, or a creature in need of help, Tia started searching between the graves. That’s when she heard a tiny meow and found a small, shivering tiny black kitten. Tia bent down and scooped up the trembling creature, and pulled her close against her chest.
Spooky is now 13 years old. She is the queen bee and a Queen B. Spooky rules our nursery building, and bosses everyone around, including her staff. She demands little from her servants, food, water, and for them to not touch her unless she request it. Spooky is not aggressive, shy, or feral, she just enjoys her space, and I think she enjoys swatting at people or other cats. She puts on a tough facade, but she really does like people and other cats. She will let you pet her and will even jump in your lap. Spooky’s favorite thing is food, she will do anything for a treat.
